The downgrade patch essentially downgrades the Second Edition back to Version 1, restoring files that were modified and removed by Rockstar for the Second Edition disc. These restrictions cause the game to crash whenever players try to add vehicles, map mods and other popular modifications. However, many of these changes also prevent players from making modifications to the game files. The Second Edition features a number of code changes made by Rockstar Games in response to the "Hot Coffee" controversy. The GTA: San Andreas Downgrade Patch is meant for players who own the Second Edition (Version 2) of the critically acclaimed 2004 PC title.
